Post

It's been awhile, and Nikki is antsy for an update, so here is a quick one.

My new mac is fixed, and it has more memory now so thats awesome. (old business from last post taken care of)

Mine and Mikels trip to Dallas was great. I met his family that Sunday and it went well, under the curcumstances. I hope to post pictures that I took in Dallas with my camera phone soon, but I need to get hosting for my photos first.

We will soon be leaving for San Francisco. I am so looking forward to it.

School is sucking right now, too much to do and I feel like i'm falling behind in it. Drowning to be exact.

I had the flu most of last week, but I'm ok now.

There was talk today of me and Mikel moving in together in July/August when our leases are up.

End quick summary. More later. Perhaps. Back to Tom Welling goodness.

Damn Apple!

Thursday, February 10, 2005 by Daren Darrow

I have the worst damn luck with Apple Computer. I love them, but I manage to always get the ones with the dodgy video. I've had my iMac for 8 days now. It has been fine, but today it started locking up and having artifacts (like this in the link) on my screen.

It seems that i'm not the only one, other people have had the issue too. This makes me shudder. I'm having flash backs to my iBook logic board issues. I didn't buy the extended warranty on the iMac, but I think i'm going to order it next week. That is, as soon as I get apple to fix my current warrenty. They show it was bought on 11/13/2004 which isn't true. Thats when the Apple Store in the Student Union ordered it. *sigh*.

Freedom of Expression anyone?

Valentines Day

Wednesday, February 09, 2005 by Daren Darrow

Valentines Day is quickly approaching. I am spending this weekend in Dallas with my 'honeybun' (i'm trying to pick a pet name, i don't think i like that one).

I started thinking back about past Valentines Day's, and since I've never been dateing anyone on that day, not many stood out. There is one, one I had forgot about, that is now in my memory. It was after me and tubby had stoped dating (months after) and we were at a Wal-Mart in Fort Smith one night, being bored and just trying to find entertainment (enter cute guys). I had bought myself some shimmery-red boxers that night (sad, buying myself a gift) and when we checked out, we ran into someone that I use to go to school with. I don't remember if I had told her then I am gay or what, but she figured out that me and tubby were dating and/or had been dating. Somehow this spread back to his hometown (he wasn't out at the time) and caused problems. He was furious with me for the longest. We termed this affectionally "Tubbygate." At least it was one of the tubbygates. I think there were more than one in the end.

update: I remember more now. I had been talking to Chris Emerick at the time, and he had met tubby and knew the history. The girl that we ran into at Wal-Mart was one of Chris's friends. That's how she knew everything.

ps.
I hope this weekend doesn't turn out as dramatic. I'm meeting his family for the first time, and theres potential for a lot of things there. Wish me luck!

Sherry Enema Anyone?

I so wish I was kidding about this, but a woman in Texas surrendered to authorities on charges of administering the fatal-sherry enemy that killed her husband.

Tammy Jean Warner, 42, turned herself in to police Monday on a charge of criminal negligent homicide connected to her 58-year-old husband's May 2003 death.

Jesus-fucking christ people!

Where fore art my backpack?

Friday, February 04, 2005 by Daren Darrow

E-mailing a professor and telling him that "I'm not in class because I can't find my backpack. I think I left it at my boyfriends. I'll be over today sometime to hand in my homework," is acceptable. Right? Either way, its what I emailed to him.

Neat. This is my first post from my new Apple iMac G5. Sweetness. I got everything that I wanted in it, except for more memory. It only has 256MB and I want to add, at least, another 512MB. It takes PC3200 DDR if anyone wants to send me some, or you can donate to me and I'll buy my own :)

We've nearly finished the plans for our spring break. We just have to find a hotel. We were going to stay at The Savoy Hotel; however, now they are booked. Drats!

Quick, Help me!

Wednesday, February 02, 2005 by Daren Darrow

Quick, someone find my sleep pattern. I've seem to have lost it. I blame Starbucks. In the magical land of buildings and civilization, also known as Tulsa, I discovered the necter of gods. It's this odd, foamy, steamy drink known as coffee. I had a special elixer made, just for me, called a Toffee Nut Latte. I'm sure it's good for the spots. It invigorates the mind, helps a waining sex drive (which I am not afflicted with), cures warts and every time you hear the "sccccrrrccch" sound of the wonderful expresso machine that makes the elixer, an angel gets its wings.

If they make the drink, like Crappy Daves does, then there is a double-shot of expresso in it. That means, I had about 200mg of caffeine or 14 oz of brewed coffee. Thats probley enough to keep me awake these days.

In other news, I got to watch tonights Gilmore Girls episode, and it was fabulous. It's been awhile since I have truely waited in anticipation for a new episode, but I can't wait till next week.

Also some fabulous gentleman is sending my ReplayTV the episode of Smallville that I missed this week.

My spring break trip is definatly a go. We ordered our plane tickets to San Francisco tonight, and will be staying a night longer than we had orgionally planned. But we saved a few bucks and can stay the extra day. Yay. I'm so excited. It's mine and Mikels first trip together, hopefully the first of many, and its to Mecca (well at least the gay mecca). My pilgramage has been long overdue.

I ordered my Mac Mini this week, and now I realize that I can afford a much better one. Now I must decide if I want to cancel the order and get an iMac or keep the order since I don't really need the better one. Damn consumerism.

I also bought a new, new to me, cell phone tonight. I'm getting Keatons old Nokia 3650. Great price, but I'm going to have to get over the stigma of having a Nokia. I've traditionally hated that company, but they seem to be making a better product these days. I also learned today that Cingular didn't buy the AT&T Wireless markets in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. In my particular situation, I'm really an Alltel customer, with an AT&T name and being billed by Cingular. Exactly how does that work? I'm not quite sure.

By means of comparison, a 7 oz cup of coffee has the following caffeine (mg) amounts, according to Bunker and McWilliams in J. Am. Diet. 74:28-32, 1979:
