More reasons why Tuesdays suck

Tuesday, September 27, 2005 by Daren Darrow

As many of you know, I work late on Monday nights at The O'Colly. Lately, I've actually been getting home around 1:30 a.m. (which is early) but I'm not ready to go to sleep at that point. So I end up not falling asleep until around 3 a.m. and then have to get up at 7 a.m. to get ready and come down stairs to work.

Well this morning I kept hitting snooze. Then I realized I had to be at work and freaked out and hoped out of bed. But when I stood up, I forgot why I was awake again.

I managed to figure that out and go shower. I was finished, or so I had thought, before I realized I had forgot to put body wash on the loofa when I was rubbing in on my body. So I had to start over.

Now I'm sitting here, brain numb, trying to leave the desk early. I think Matt Fowler is coming in for me.

I may be in this confused, dazed state, but I am still getting things done. I've worked the desk (aka sat here) since 8 a.m. I organized my notes and filed them. I've talked to a guy at the OU Goddard Health Center. I've written a short article for the O'Colly tomorrow and I've did a phone interview (for the mentioned article).

Now I just need sleep so that I can work on my PAR and try and get it finished before 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. :\

I should be researching my article for PAR. At least learning about Maynard Ferguson, since I have to write a preview and a review of his performance at OSU this week. But instead i'm dead tired. I've drank nearly 1.5 liters of Diet Dr. Pepper since 8 a.m. and I still have 3 hours and 15 minutes of sitting at the front desk.

I am the walking dead and can't wait to not have this shift again. I got in early, too early almost, from the O'Colly last night (was in my room by 12:30, and we spent a lot of time after we finished just BS'ing so it could have been earlier). So my body was geared up to stay awake longer and wouldn't let me sleep, so sometime around 3:30 - 4 a.m. I passed out. Only to get up shortly after 7 a.m. to come to the desk and work.

Well, I felt rather butch

Yesterday was an interesting day. I decided that I was tired of car problems and fixed them myself. Normally I would forgo that and let someone else deal with it. This time thou, I was able to save half the cost of getting it fixed.

On my car I changed my spark Plugs and ignition wires.

On Mikel's car I changed his fuel filter, cleaned the carbon off of this throttle position sensor air inlet and diagnosed and fixed a rotten rubber elbow on his PCV valve (which was interesting). It was interesting because neither Autozone nor O'Reilly Auto had the part. So I ended up making one for a Chrystler work. Not a big deal, it's just a piece of rubber. But come on. I know that there are still 1995 Ford Escorts on the road. Have a part or two for it.

Now both cars run fine. I now just have to find a new auto-seatbelt motor (driver side) for his car and it will be totally ok.

The rest of the weekend was fun as well. We had a date night Saturday. It was the first time in awhile that we were able to just get away and spend time together. So we went to Tulsa and ate at India Palace and then went shopping (rather than the movies, since they all started so late). India Palace was great. I'm not certain that I like it more than Taj Palace, but it will be a toss up. It's definitely a better looking restaurant.

I bought new bedding (Click for Picture) at Bed, Bath and Beyond. So much nicer than what I had. But now I have even less of a reason to want to get out of bed in the mornings. (Sheet info) Note: Not exact set, mine was 400 thread count, but I can't find it online.

My Public Affairs Backgounder was turned in last week. I may find out in about an hour what he thought of it. But no matter what happens, it's done. I have a little more than a week to turn in my first story. I'm going to write it over Section 3244 of Oklahoma Statutes Title 70, which requires incoming freshmen to have immunization records on file for enrollment. A large percentage of students don't have it on file, and therefore will not be able to enroll for next semester.

It's almost exactly two weeks till mine and Mikel's 1-year anniversary. yay!

Oh, btw. HAPPY TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY! Aarg matey.
