Coming soon to a state near you.

Tuesday, January 16, 2007 by Daren Darrow

So ya, my goal of keeping this blog updated more often certainly worked out well. Anyway, I'm back now and with good news.

☐ ☐ ☐

Oklahoma vacation trip

I will be in Oklahoma for a few days from Feb. 21-26. I don't know if I'm going to be leaving on the 25th or 26th just yet, or what time I'll be in a city near you, but hit me up if you want to see me and I haven't talked to you in awhile. :)

My vacation days were approved tonight, my boss just got back from vacation himself so he called me to tell me what days I could have. Now the frantic search for plane tickets begins. So far I've found some for $198 but leaving from San Jose (not really near me anymore, more on that later) and some for $245 on United from San Francisco and it is a direct flight to Dallas. That's working out nice for me right now.

I can't wait to see friends while I'm there, and the obligatory trip to visit family. I don't think I would dread it if they weren't on the other fucking side of the state from where I'll be at most of the time. Not to mention them being in the middle of nowhere (but the whole state may feel empty to me after living here for a year now.)

The move to San Francisco

It happened almost exactly a month ago now. But we now live in San Francisco. We had given up on getting a place here and started looking in Oakland. We were turned down (we assume because of having a cat) by the leasing company we wanted in Oakland so somehow we still ended up in the city.

I love it here, but it's not quite as urban as I wanted. We're "in San Francisco" but are like 10-15 min to downtown. We're almost in the 'burbs.

Here's a photo of where we live – OK, not really our tower but the one across from us, it had better light when I took the photo.

We live in the Park Merced area of S.F. View more about our complex by clicking www.parkmerced.com.

This should make those accustomed to Oklahoma/Wisconsin rent squirm. But we pay $1595.00/month for a 1 bedroom 790'ish sq foot space. Big and affordable by S.F. standards. It's not too far from the train either, so Mikel just drops me off at the station on his way to work and I just take the train now.

iPhone

Speaking of train rides, I'm now super antsy for the iPhone. I've been wanting a new phone for awhile, but was waiting for this. It seems to do everything I want. Phone, Web (both EDGE and Wi-Fi) and iPod video. It will make train rides so much more enjoyable. Hopefully it has more than 15 min of battery life though.

Work

Work has definitely been sucking lately. It seems like one thing spiraling into another after another. I'm not really happy anymore. But I'm trying to make it through it. I just feel like they're trying to find every excuse to get rid of me they can. I'm just not going to make it easy for them.

Ok, that's all for a few months at least. Cheerio.
